Pigeon Post, the musical project of songwriter and producer Paul James Usher, announce the release of their deeply introspective album, "My Love for You” out 27th October 2023. Born out of a profound low point in his life, this collection of songs authentically captures the challenges of being a musician, the weight of sacrifices, and the intricate relationship between artistry and mental health.

"Songwriting is hard," admits Usher, acknowledging the familiar wall many artists encounter. However, his experience last year struck a deeper chord. In a moment of despair, he listed all his gear for sale, confronting the emotional toll of dedicating his life to music. It was during this time that Paul penned "Burn My Heart," a deceptively cheerful track that poured out his true feelings. The following day, "Hard to Let You Go" emerged and the process continued. Determined to channel these emotions into something transformative, Paul withdrew his listings, choosing instead to craft an entire record around these raw sentiments. The result is a collection of songs that address music as if it were a person, lending the album an unmistakable resemblance to a breakup narrative.

The album delves into themes of grief and loss, offering an honest and long-overdue testament to emotions he has carried for far too long.

Drawing inspiration from esteemed artists such as Scott Walker, Burt Bacharach, McCartney, and Damon Albarn, the album showcases Paul's genuine approach to songwriting. Recorded entirely in his personal studio, "My Love for You" was mixed by the acclaimed Emre Ramazanoglu (known for his work with Noel Gallagher, Richard Ashcroft and more). Additionally, the album features the guitar of Paul's friend, Fyfe Dangerfield (of Guillemots). Other contributions were made by friends Rayowa and Ben Hobbs
With Paul as the sole producer, the album is a true labor of love.

Notable highlights from Paul's long a tiring career include his first band being signed by Alan McGee's Poptones in 2005, then his next band Magistrates' signing with XL Recordings in 2008 which led to collaborating with renowned figures such as Damon Albarn.

Above all, "My Love for You" is an album steeped in honesty. It serves as a poignant documentation of Paul's thoughts, seamlessly woven into captivating melodies. "I know I am fortunate to have found music as a love, yet it can also feel like an unshakeable curse. Still, I am captivated by the pursuit of those melodies," he confides.
